Hello all
I've had the XP set up for about a month and I've recently had several problems regarding the internet connection.

Firstly, the unit apparently connects readily to my WLAN, and I get no "only local/limmited connectivity" warning or the like, but when I open up Firefox to go on line, I get an error message that says that the address is incorrect, and to check for typos, and some other nonesense which I can't remember now.

Thinking that the browser was to blame (shortly after installing Tiny XP I got a prompt to update to the latest Firefox version, and though it wouldn't hurt to try), I tried to see if the instant messaging SW was working (I'm using EMESENE), I also get a coded error message, which I asume refers to unavailable internet connection.

I've also checked the Task Manager to see if there was something hogging resources but found only the usual suspects.

The lack of connection is sometimes resolved in 5-10 minutes, or after re-booting. Just in case the fact is useful, I'm using AVAST AV home edition, to which I've disabled the automatic virus database update, because it was swamping the machine every time it started downloading and installing the new definitions.

Any pointers?

p.d. Mine is the 500 RAM 8 GB SSD

Hi Ron. Thanx for the good work. My only problem is that my computer is soooo slow. I get " Not Responding" every 5 min. Even when i´m writing this, i have to wait 5-20 sec to see the letters i write, and that's slow!
Is there anything I can do to solve it?

Thanks Yo Mamma for the suggestion but I'm not comfortable picking out which patches I need and which I don't. Is there any way to make this valid? Ron you suggested in posts from way back to use IE tab, how do you get the updates??

Thanks in advance for the help.

Will this work an acer 3935? My guess is that I might just have to update some hardware drivers, but the OS should be fine (I hope!).

Hi, anyone know how to get around the windows validation for updates? According to these posts and others that I have read I downloaded the Firefox add on so that I could install windows updates. Windows update works but will not install because of this validation thing.

I am running NOD32 anti virus and it really doesn't like the fact that updates aren't installed.

Any help would be great, thanks.

i second exuptoy....it was made with bios 3109 (which i still run too).

Alternative is to boot in safe mode and deinstall the fancontrol what is in the image. This was the first version that is not compatible with higher bios versions. Reboot and install newer version. Perhaps this can work for you.
