This new interface looks awesome! Also many people report boots below 10 seconds on standard hardware!

With the help of (mostly?) the aspireoneuser.com community Leak has created a new kernel and the bootchart is quite promising to say the least!

Just in: Kuki Linux Alpha 2 has released. More info here.
I’ve installed this Alpha just now and tried a few things. The main reason I’m interested in a customized version of Ubuntu is performance. To me the two most prominent factors of performance are boot time and battery life. Unfortunately Kuki hasn’t impressed me yet: boot time was about 55 seconds and battery life was estimated at 2 hours (without Wifi). Both are worse than a standard Ubuntu install tweaked for the AAO. Luckily the bootchart of Alpha 2.1 shows an improvement in boot time. I’m very interested in the next release and hopefully the performance will be improved soon!

The Aspire One doesn’t have its own Ubuntu derived distribution yet. One attempt, OneLinux, was unfortunately cancelled a few days ago. Luckily there is a new project and it looks very promising so far! It’s called Kuki (pronounced as cookie) and it’s an Ubuntu minimal install with OpenBox as window manager. Just a few days ago they released Alpha 1, with the lovely code name ‘Amicable Amarettini’. The install image is only 300MB. It’s not newbie proof yet, but hopefully it will be in the next releases! A second Alpha is going to be announced soon, so keep an eye on kuki.me .

Midori-Keep in mind this is just for gaming and if your looking for a speedy version of xp slimmed your best bet is to use ron’s Tiny XP
The post below is taken straight from the original poster if you have problems with installing this or getting it all to work just PM Midori at Aspireoneuser.com and i will be more then happy to help you solve your problem or anwser your questions
GodlyXP is a new type of variant, it’s completely different to all these gamer editions and speed editions, this my friends is in a league of it’s own, it’s neo-bone’s, basically it’s got all the crap Microsoft apps unneeded removed, as you can see it only needs around 20mb’s of ram to run unlike other OS’s in this community which require around 80mb’s or more! everything is still compatible and working, wireless internet works, games work, all media works! heck I even added a few drivers (feel free to remove those ) GodlyXP outperforms EVERY windows xp released, fact. and without loss of needed things, This was created by the masterful exploiter, Shaun (AKA Cloud/Godfromdfo) he (or I) has given everyone in the internet community (and real life) to share this 100% legit variant of Windows XP Professional SP3! (SP3, final build, by Microsoft of course!) There are a few things I disabled on purpose (which you can re-enable) such as automatic updates and such, simply go to services.msc and enable them if you want to, however there are no updates left t download.. GodlyXP is fully updated, Genuine, no Serial required (GodlyXP is legal only if you change the serial later.. which you don’t need to do, however it may be a good idea)I could write a list of things I removed and what tweaks have been done to the registry hives, however I feel no need to.

I’ve been looking for a Tiger install DVD for the Aspire One for a while as Leopard’s footprint is a bit too big for the One (6,9GB vs 4GB). Unfortunately the releases I tried (JaS, XxX, Kalyway, etc) didn’t boot.. Now finally I have found one! It’s a release of 10.4.5 and I’m installing as I type. I’ll update this post as soon as I get some results!
Here is a link to a site with more info on this release.

Please pay attention: there is currently only ONE version of Ron’s image: Rev09. Any reference to Rev02 is a typo. Please search this page with over 750 posts before asking anything: most likely you will find your answer..
Ron has created an image of his Tiny XP installation customized for the Acer Aspire One and includes all the specific drivers, fan control software and Office. Ron’s image and the necessary tools can be found at this torrent: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4670099/Ron_s_TinyXP_image_for_Aspire_One.
Install instructions are posted after the break, but are also included in the archive.
Password of the rar files is Ron[nl].
[update]
The megaupload link will soon expire. Ron has decided not to renew this link and feels that all issues about this image has been discussed in these comments before. I’m sure you can find the image through other resources on the internet! The comment section will stay open.
